No diet is a cure for cancer. Nevertheless, what, when and how you eat can make an enormous impact on your overall health and well-being. Furthermore, research is finally being done to prove that certain dietary changes can have a huge impact on cancer outcomes. That is, what you eat may help you live longer and better.
Some of the most recent studies are listed in the bar to the left.
Based on this evidence, the ultimate cancer-healing diet consists of three elements:
- Ketosis is a therapeutic state in which the body is using fat for energy instead of glucose (sugar). Generally, cancer cells require glucose to thrive and only healthy human cells perform optimally in ketosis. Even better, the ketones our body creates which in ketosis have been shown to kill cancer cell directly.
- Fasting creates a very deep state of ketosis, but drives changes in other metabolic pathways that are damaging to cancer while powerfully strengthening the immune system.
- Whole, plant-based foods have demonstrated cancer-fighting properties and plant-based diets are strongly correlated with lower rates of cancer.
These three elements can be combined in a sustainable, healing way of eating that is also delicious.
I call this my functional therapeutic keto diet and it is one of my most critical and effective therapies I used to treat my cancer.
